During the interwar, Opel became the largest truck manufacturer in
Germany. The Blitz (German for "lightning"), coined in a prize
competition, became a brand name for various light and middle-weight
trucks, right up to 1975. The logo created for this brand, two stripes
arranged loosely like a lightning symbol in the form of a horizontally
stretched letter "Z", became the Opel logo. During WW2, the Opel Blitz
became the prime utility truck of the Wehrmacht, deployed in every
front.
