This vehicle was based on the civilian Mercedes-Benz 170 V (W136), which was modified into an open-top Kübelwagen version for military use.
- Purpose: It served primarily as a light communications and radio car (Nachrichtenkraftwagen) or a small maintenance vehicle to support frontline commanders and signals troops.
- Technical data: A rear-wheel-drive (4x2) chassis powered by a 1.7-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine (38 hp). It was highly reliable on roads, but its off-road capabilities were limited due to a lack of high ground clearance.
