IBG Models 72130 1/72 Carro Comando M14/41 with 13.2mm Breda Modello 31 MG

The Carro Comando M14/41 was an Italian armoured command vehicle developed during the Second World War on the chassis of the Carro Armato M14/41 medium tank. Instead of a conventional turret and main gun, the vehicle was rebuilt with a large command superstructure to provide additional space for radio equipment, artillery observation instruments, maps, and command personnel. It was mainly intended to lead self-propelled artillery units such as the Semovente da 75/18, allowing commanders to coordinate fire and maintain communication with their batteries. Later versions replaced the original hull machine-gun arrangement with a more powerful 13.2mm Breda Modello 31 heavy machine gun mounted in a frontal ball mount.

The Breda Modello 31 was originally designed as a heavy anti-aircraft weapon but was also used as a defensive armament on Italian command vehicles. Its 13.2mm cartridge provided considerably more firepower than the standard 8mm Breda machine guns, making it effective against infantry, light vehicles, and lightly armoured targets. Although the Carro Comando M14/41 lacked the offensive capability of a tank, its role was vital in improving battlefield coordination within Italian armoured and artillery formations, where reliable communication remained a major challenge.
