It had a completely new, long-span straight wing of 23.4 \u003cbr\u003emeters (more than twice that of the Yak-25M interceptor) with a total \u003cbr\u003earea of 55 square meters. Camera and sensor packs were added in the \u003cbr\u003efuselage. The \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Soviet_Air_Force\" class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Soviet Air Force\"\u003eSoviet Air Force\u003c\/a\u003e nevertheless kept the Yak-25RV in service until \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1974_in_aviation\" title=\"1974 in aviation\"\u003e1974\u003c\/a\u003e.\u003cbr\u003e A few were used in the late 1970s for monitoring of radioactive \u003cbr\u003econtamination, with specialized sensors; these were designated \u003cbr\u003eYak-25RRV.
