Its primary role was found to be in the \u003cbr\u003etraining schools, preparing new German naval officers for command. Compared to the other variants,\u003cbr\u003e it had a smaller bridge and could carry the German G7a, G7e torpedoes \u003cbr\u003eas well as TM-type torpedo mines. There were separated net cutters in \u003cbr\u003ethe bow.
