• The Sukhoi T-10-10 and T-10-11 were two late-stage, pre-production flying prototypes of the initial Sukhoi T-10 design (the developmental precursor to the legendary Su-27 "Flanker" air superiority fighter) built by the Komsomolsk-on-Amur plant in 1981. 

  Background and Characteristics

  • Pre-Series Batch: Designated as part of the initial configuration pre-production batch (Type T-10-5 through T-10-11), the T-10-10 and T-10-11 represented the culmination of the first-generation T-10 airframe iteration before Sukhoi heavily overhauled the entire aerodynamic concept into the radically redesigned T-10S configuration. 
  • Avionics & Weapon Provisos: The T-10-11 sub-prototype specifically incorporated critical test provisions for operational combat avionics and weapon systems, including early testing phases for the N001 pulse-Doppler radar, OPES-27 IRST (Infrared Search and Track), and the SPO-15 radar warning receiver, alongside dummy R-60 air-to-air missile mockups. 
  • Design Limitations: These airframes still carried the traits of the original T-10 design—such as ogival (curved) wingtips and fixed engine nozzle housings enclosing modified AL-21F-3AI turbojet engines—which ultimately suffered from limited performance metrics compared to their American adversary, the F-15 Eagle, prompting the transition to the definitive double-delta/trapezoidal-winged T-10S standard
