Both were light-weight interceptors of mostly wood \u003cbr\u003econstruction and powered by a single \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rocket_engine\" title=\"Rocket engine\"\u003erocket engine\u003c\/a\u003e.  The wings and vertical tail were adapted from the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/V-1_flying_bomb\" title=\"V-1 flying bomb\"\u003eV-1 flying bomb\u003c\/a\u003e. The fighter would be towed into the air behind a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Messerschmitt_Bf_109_variants#Bf_109G\" title=\"Messerschmitt Bf 109 variants\"\u003eMesserschmitt Bf 109G\u003c\/a\u003e or \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Messerschmitt_Me_262\" title=\"Messerschmitt Me 262\"\u003eMesserschmitt Me 262\u003c\/a\u003e.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe P.1103 and P.1104 were in competition with the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Heinkel_P.1077\" title=\"Heinkel P.1077\"\u003eHeinkel P.1077\u003c\/a\u003e and \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bachem_Ba_349\" class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Bachem Ba 349\"\u003eBachem Ba 349\u003c\/a\u003e, the latter being selected by the \u003ci\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Luftwaffe\" title=\"Luftwaffe\"\u003eLuftwaffe\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e over the others. Work on the P.1103 and P.1104 was abandoned in September 1944 to allow Messerchmitt to focus on the Me 262 and \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Messerschmitt_P.1101\" title=\"Messerschmitt P.1101\"\u003eP.1101\u003c\/a\u003e projects.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cdl\u003e\n\u003cdt\u003eP.1103\/I (P.1103A)\u003c\/dt\u003e\n\u003cdd\u003eInitial proposal for the P.1103, dated July 6, 1944.  It was to have a low-wing configuration and be powered by a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wilhelm_Schmidding\" title=\"Wilhelm Schmidding\"\u003eSchmidding 109-513\u003c\/a\u003e solid-fueled rocket engine and armed with a single 30 mm \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/MK_108_cannon\" title=\"MK 108 cannon\"\u003eMK 108 cannon\u003c\/a\u003e under the cockpit.  Pilot sat in a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Prone_position#Pilot\" title=\"Prone position\"\u003eprone position\u003c\/a\u003e with a single 30 mm \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/MK_108_cannon\" title=\"MK 108 cannon\"\u003eMK 108 cannon\u003c\/a\u003e under the cockpit. It was to have a high-wing configuration and be powered by a liquid-fueled \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Walter_RI_202\u0026amp;action=edit\u0026amp;redlink=1\" class=\"new\" title=\"Walter RI 202 (page does not exist)\"\u003eWalter RI 202\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cbr\u003e rocket engine.  Pilot sat in an upright position with a single 30 mm MK\u003cbr\u003e 108 cannon under the cockpit.
