Boeing \u003cbr\u003eparticipated to the contest with the concept demonstrator aircraft X-32 \u003cbr\u003ewhile Lockheed Martin presented its XF-35 prototype. The Boeing X-32 was\u003cbr\u003edeveloped and realized around a large one piece carbon fiber composite \u003cbr\u003edelta wing and characterized by the big size air intake placed under the\u003cbr\u003ecockpit. The Lockheed Martin reply was based on the XF-35, using a lot \u003cbr\u003eof technology and aerodynamic solutions already successfully adopted on \u003cbr\u003ethe fighter F-22 Raptor. For both concept demonstrator aircrafts were \u003cbr\u003edeveloped several applications as the conventional take-off \/ landing \u003cbr\u003eversion and the STOVL (short take-off and vertical landing) version.
