It remained in frontline use until May \u003cbr\u003e1945\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cdt\u003e\n\u003ch3 id=\"IAR_80C\"\u003eIAR 80C\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003ch3 id=\"IAR_80\"\u003e\n\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14px;\"\u003eThe supply of the 13.2 mm guns was clearly \u003cbr\u003elimited, and in a further attempt to increase the firepower of the \u003cbr\u003edesign the Romanians signed a deal with Ikaria in Germany for a supply \u003cbr\u003eof 20 mm \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/MG_FF_cannon\" title=\"MG FF cannon\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14px;\"\u003eMG FF\/M\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14px;\"\u003e cannon. These were a licensed version of the Swiss \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oerlikon_FF\" title=\"Oerlikon FF\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14px;\"\u003eOerlikon FF\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14px;\"\u003e,\u003cbr\u003e which had been in use in various German aircraft. The new gun also \u003cbr\u003erequired a redesign of the wing. Initially 60 IAR 81Bs were intended to \u003cbr\u003ebe dive bombers, but these were delivered without the centerline bomb \u003cbr\u003erack as fighters and designated IAR 80C. After the first 10 were \u003cbr\u003ecompleted, self-sealing tanks were added along with improved seat-back \u003cbr\u003earmor.
