The FT was the first production \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tank\" title=\"Tank\"\u003etank\u003c\/a\u003e to have its armament within a fully rotating turret. The Renault FT's configuration (crew compartment at the front, engine \u003cbr\u003ecompartment at the back, and main armament in a revolving turret) became\u003cbr\u003e and remains the standard tank layout. Consequently, some \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Armoured_warfare\" title=\"Armoured warfare\"\u003earmoured warfare\u003c\/a\u003e historians have called the Renault FT the world's first modern tank.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver 3,000 Renault FT tanks were manufactured by France, most of them in 1918.
