{"product_id":"fairey-gannet-god-4","title":"Fairey Gannet GOD.4","description":"\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAirfix 1:48\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cdiv class=\"grid__item grid__item--60\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eArguably the most unconventional \u003cbr\u003eFairey-designed aircraft to enter full production, the Gannet was \u003cbr\u003edeveloped to meet a 1945 Royal Navy requirement for an advanced \u003cbr\u003ecarrier-based turboprop-powered anti-submarine hunter-killer. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIntended\u003cbr\u003e to counter the recent expansion of the Soviet submarine fleet at the \u003cbr\u003estart of the Cold War era, the Gannet was equipped with the last \u003cbr\u003eelectronic detection equipment and if an enemy submarine was detected, \u003cbr\u003eit could be marked, tracked and attacked using bombs, depth charges, \u003cbr\u003erockets and air-launched acoustic torpedoes. It was a highly effective \u003cbr\u003eanti-submarine aircraft, able to attack submarines on the surface or \u003cbr\u003esubmerged.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOne feature of the Gannet that gave it a unique \u003cbr\u003eappearance was its innovative Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba \u003cbr\u003epowerplant.
