By the time of its \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maiden_flight\" title=\"Maiden flight\"\u003emaiden flight\u003c\/a\u003e on 7 September 1940, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nazi_Germany\" title=\"Nazi Germany\"\u003eNazi Germany\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cbr\u003ewas almost one year into the Second World War and the operation of long\u003cbr\u003edistance civil services was not realistic, thus development was \u003cbr\u003ereorientated towards military roles. On 10 July 1941, V1 undertook its \u003cbr\u003efirst cargo transport mission with the \u003ci\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Luftwaffe\" title=\"Luftwaffe\"\u003eLuftwaffe\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e;\u003cbr\u003efurther logistics use proceeded thereafter. Later that year, the first \u003cbr\u003earmed BV 222s were delivered.
