It was one\u003cbr\u003e of the stars of the Geneva International Motor Show in 1980; while the \u003cbr\u003ebody was similar to the Audi Coupé, its flared fenders and spoilers \u003cbr\u003efront and rear hinted strongly at its high performance, but its \u003cbr\u003efull-time four-wheel drive was naturally the main talking point. \u003cbr\u003eDifferentials at the front and rear were joined by a center differential\u003cbr\u003e in a setup that checked numerous boxes: smooth road driving; superior \u003cbr\u003espeed and cornering; and exceptional stability. Power was provided by a \u003cbr\u003e2,144cc inline-five engine with a turbocharger and intercooler that \u003cbr\u003eoutput an impressive 200hp, while the front and rear had MacPherson \u003cbr\u003estrut suspension and disc brakes, which were a ventilated design at the \u003cbr\u003efront. In 1981 a rally version of the car debuted and took the global \u003cbr\u003ecircuit by storm, winning multiple races and opening the door for other \u003cbr\u003e4WD rally cars.
