Side exhaust pipes were also optionally available in 1965, and \u003cbr\u003econtinued to be offered through 1967. Another 1963 and 1964 \u003cbr\u003eoption was the Z06 competition package, which offered stiffer \u003cbr\u003esuspension, bigger, multi-segment lined brakes with finned drums, and \u003cbr\u003emore. Only a couple hundred coupes and a single convertible were \u003cbr\u003efactory-equipped this way in 1963. With only 771 fuel-injected cars \u003cbr\u003ebuilt in 1965, Chevrolet discontinued the option at the end of the 1965 \u003cbr\u003eproduction, having introduced a less-expensive big block 396 engine \u003cbr\u003erated at 425 hp in the middle of the production year and selling over \u003cbr\u003e2,000 in just a few months.
