Its primary role was found to be in the \u003cbr\u003etraining schools, preparing new German naval officers for command. It \u003cbr\u003eappeared in four sub-types. \u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2 id=\"Type_IIA\"\u003eType IIA\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Type IIA was a single hull, all \u003cbr\u003ewelded boat with internal ballast tanks. Compared to the other variants,\u003cbr\u003e it had a smaller bridge and could carry the German G7a, G7e torpedoes \u003cbr\u003eas well as TM-type torpedo mines. There were separated net cutters in \u003cbr\u003ethe bow. The Reichsfischkutter was mostly built in wood and could be ordered affordably by private operators. In return, the vehicle had to returned to the navy during the war.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space-collapse: preserve;\"\u003eIn 1942, the German Navy ordered many of these, and thus launched the largest shipbuilding series in German maritime history. The boats were built by 42 shipyards in seven European countries. Unknowingly, yards in neutral Sweden made war fishing boats for the German Navy. These orders were disguised as orders for \"normal\" trawlers and were awarded by the then Reich Ministry of Food.
